Xiid Commanders
TIP
Contact your Xiid representative to receive a Commander Activation Code.
The Xiid Commander software is used to configure, manage, and deploy your Xiid products, including the SealedTunnel.
Xiid Commanders are always deployed within your own environment, regardless of whether you're using SaaS-based or self-hosted Connectors.
Commanders do not require any inbound access and we encourage you to close off all inbound ports on the Commander's machine. By default, the Commander is bound on the loopback network interface so it will not be available externally from the machine.
Access to the Commander Portal and the machine hosting it can be granted through the SealedTunnel™, ensuring that your Commander's machine remains safe and secure.
Commanders store your SealedTunnel™ configurations in an encrypted and tamper-resistant database on the local machine. Xiid never has access to your configurations, so even if Xiid's infrastructure were to be breached, your environment will remain secure.
As a best practice, we encourage our customers to deploy at least two Commanders in their environment for redundancy and failover. Since the Commander, its configurations, and its encrypted database are all self-hosted, you will need to generate a SecureLink code to deploy additional Commanders and synchronize their encryption keys.
You will need to provide an Activation Code during the Commander's initial setup. To receive an Activation Code, contact your Xiid representative.
